Romania: Moldovian Monastries

This card shows monastries of Romania.

Maldovita: The Monastery of Moldovita was built in 1532 by Petru Rares, who was Stefan the Great's illegitimate son. It was founded as a protective barrier against the Muslim Ottoman conquerors from the East.

Suchevita : Sucevita is the largest and also the last built of the painted monasteries of Bucovina. It was built in 1581 by the Bishop of Radauti, Gheorghe Movila.

Neamt: The Neamt Monastery (Romanian: Manastirea Neamt) is a Romanian Orthodox one religious settlement, one of the oldest and most important of its kind in Romania. It was built in 14th century, and it is an example of medieval Moldavian architecture. 

Varonet: Voronet is a monastery in Romania, located in the town of Gura Humorului, Moldavia. It is one of the famous painted monasteries from southern Bukovina, now in Suceava County.
