Cuba: Vintage Cars

Tens of thousands of vintage American cars remain scattered throughout the country, manufactured before the revolution and subsequent US embargo in 1960. With no automobile imports coming in, the cars are preserved by Cuban mechanics and improvised fixes by the owners themselves.

Thanks to my friend Jitendra, who was visiting Cuba.

Cuba: Cueva del Indico

Cueva del Indico, cave of the Indians, lies 8 kms north of Vinales, Western Cuba. Cueva del Indico has the largest system of underground caves in Cuba.

Cuba: Havana

Havana was founded in 1519 by the Spanish. By the 17th century, it had become one of the Caribbean's main centers for ship-building. Although it is today a sprawling metropolis of 2 million inhabitants, its old center retains an interesting mix of Baroque and neoclassical monuments, and a homogeneous ensemble of private houses with arcades, balconies, wrought-iron gates and internal courtyards. Post card showing Morro Castle at the Havana Harbor. It was built in 1845.
