Monaco: Monte Carlo

Monte Carlo is situated on a prominent escarpment at the base of the Maritime Alps along the French Riviera. Near the western end of the quarter is the world-famous Place du Casino, the gambling center which has made Monte Carlo "an international byword for the extravagant display and reckless dispersal of wealth". It is also the location of the Hôtel de Paris, the Café de Paris, and the Salle Garnier.

Thanks to Dr Kiran Acharya for the lovely card.

Monaco: Monte Carlo Casino

Officially named "Casino de Monte-Carlo", the Monte Carlo Casino is a gambling and entertainment complex located in Monaco. It includes a casino, the Grand Théâtre de Monte Carlo, and the office of Les Ballets de Monte Carlo.

Thanks to Dr Kiran who was visiting Monaco. The top picture on the card is of the Casino.

It gained independence from Republic of Genoa in 1297.Monaco is famous for its casino in Monte Carlo. However, residents of Monaco are not allowed to gamble or even enter the casino! .Monaco's flag is the same as the flag of Indonesia. The only difference is that the Indonesian flag is wider.

Nothing is more thrilling than receiveng a card from new country. This one is from my friend Vishwanath who was visiting Monte carlo. He has sent me a multiview card with important landmarks and events in Monaco. He has used Prince Philipe stamp. A special postmark depicting Orchestre philharmonque has been used for cancellation. This Orchestra is main Orchestra in Monaco and was founded in 1856. Thanks Vishy for the great card.
